Make Your Holiday Dinners Gluten-Free

By Xtrema Pure Ceramic Cookware on

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with celiac disease, it might be hard to adjust to a gluten-free diet. The protein, gluten, is found in barley and wheat, which means pasta, breads, cakes, pies, French fries, salad dressings and a host of other items are instantly off the table.

As a growing number of people continue to be diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten intolerance, manufacturers are making more and more gluten-free products. However, cooking from scratch — especially around the holidays — can pose a particular challenge.

If you need to make a gluten-free holiday dinner menu, there are plenty of helpful blogs to steer you in the right direction. We’ve compiled a few of our favorite recipes to get you started.

Turkey and Stuffing

Store-bought birds, whether they’re fresh or frozen might be injected with butter and gluten, Smart magazine says. You can research your bird before you buy, or you can opt for an Empire turkey, which is Kosher and salted. When basting the bird throughout the cooking process, use olive oil instead of butter to keep it allergen-free.

Combine Udi’s gluten-free bread with sautéed vegetables, chicken stock and heavy cream, and bake in your 6 Qt 100% Ceramic Ovenex Oblong Baking Dish & Roasting Pan. This gluten-free take on a classic recipe will be a hit with everyone in your family.

Some dishes on your holiday table are naturally gluten-free, such as mashed potatoes. But those items could be begging for toppings that do contain gluten — gravy pond, anyone? Bon Appétit shares a gluten-free gravy that actually tastes delicious enough to replace your go-to recipe.

What About Dessert?

Cakes and pies are usually off-limits for those with celiac disease. But author Cybele Pascal created a recipe for a gluten-free — and vegan — sweet potato pie that is perfect for the holiday season. The easy-to-make pie crust can also be adapted for other recipes in the New Year.
